Part II: Important Questions to Ask While Taking An Insurance For Your Jewelry
Now that you’ve decided to get your pearl jewelry insured, here are a few important things you need to ask the company your insuring with.
- How much of my jewelry value, will the policy cover? Is it just a fraction of the value, or the entire 100 %?
- Will the insurance cover theft and loss? What if my pearls get damaged?
- How will you replace my jewelry? Do I have to go to a specific jeweler?
- Is it mandatory to do an appraisal?
- Do I need to go to specific people to do an appraisal, or can I do it through anyone?
- Is there any amount that is deductible?
- Are there any specific repair policies. Do I have to go to a certain jeweler?
Basically, the best thing to do is, do your homework. Make a list of questions and then proceed with dealing with an insurance. You need to know all the details of the insurance policy, before you proceed with one. It’s not like your taking a life or home insurance. Those are common and we pretty much know the details. So spend some time and do a little research. It will go a long way in helping you.
